I attended the weekend box making course last month, and have today completed the Kumiko course with my son. The tuition from the Williams & Cleal team, facilities and course content are all absolutely superb. I highly recommend any of the courses whether you are looking to develop your skills as a hobby, or to develop your career in furniture making. Thank you Justin, Jane & Olly.

It's been two weeks or so since I did this box course and I am still blown away with the results. As someone who's interested in this sort of career this was a perfect opportunity to get a gist of what it's like working in a real workshop environment compared to my garage at home. I will be sure to be back for another course maybe a slightly longer one. Justin was an excellent teacher and whenever I needed help he was there to show me what I needed to do. I also wanted to ask a few extra questions on tools that I should get so what email should I send it to?

I just spent all of last week on a week's course making a small stool/seat. I have to say what a fantastic experience it was! All of the staff at Williams and Cleal were so incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming that I booked another couple of courses so that I can go back and repeat the experience and learn more techniques. Sophie, my tutor, was full of patience, was generous with her time and knowledge, and was really a first rate teacher. I cannot recommend Williams and Cleal highly enough. Whilst I was there I was able to see, first-hand, what superb craftsmanship really means as the long-term students were learning to become expert designer-makers. Keep up the inspiring work!

I recently completed a 3 month bespoke course at Williams & Cleal.
It was a fantastic experience and one I wish could have lasted longer.
Katie's organisation is awesome - due to the obvious, she had to reschedule my course multiple times. Logistical tetris!
Finally getting to be in the workshop was exactly what I hoped for. I completed the first two set projects from the 40 week programme (see dovetail box photos) and then I designed and made my own bedside tables.
The set projects were much needed, dedicating time to perfecting use of hand tools, improving marking and measuring and overall excellence - Justin, Sophie and Ollie expect nothing less. And it was just the push I needed.
The design and make process was amazing, and one I wish I could do over and over at W&C. Jane challenged me to think "outside the box", worked on my drawing and design skills and between Jane and Justin we came up with a project I could realistically complete in my remaining time.
The team have also helped me work out realistically what I can do from my workshop (garage) at home and made recommendations for the basic set up.
I would highly recommend.

LOVED the weekend Bench Stool workshop at Williams and Ceal. Oli was such a fantastic tutor - knowledgeable, clear, patient, with heaps of experience, and great at sharing it. Such a beautiful setting, and lovely general vibe of the workshop. Look forward to choosing the next course I do with them. Cannot recommend more highly!

I completed a 1 year fine furniture course with Williams and Cleal. The course itself was incredible. I had no previous experience prior to commencing the course and step by step I was introduced to skills that I could have not imagined were possible in such a short period of time. Not only was the teaching excellent, the staff and Williams and Cleal were amazing. Totally dedicated to achieving perfection. I highly recommend them as a furniture school.

I attended the "make a bench stool" weekend course and it was perfect! Oli was a great instructor; pleasant, knowledgeable, patient. The workshop was well equipped with quality tools. The project was well designed and pitched at a good level for me. Bonus points for the lovely environment and the very nice other attendees. Full marks, definitely considering one of the other courses offered by w&c.

Box Making Course 21-22/01/23.
Fantastic course, as someone who hasn’t done this before the tutor and environment were excellent. The equipment provided was top notch and razor sharp, it allowed you to understand what is needed to produce a beautiful wooden box and strive for perfection.
The tutor was excellent and took time to answer all our questions, to demo what we needed to do and to tell us how to rectify our mistakes, not do it for us.
A brilliant course, thoroughly recommended.
