πŸ•―πŸŒΉπŸͺΆ Natural Ink Making πŸͺΆπŸŒΉπŸ•―

In the wilds of Exmoor, we met a wonderful lady who taught folk how to gather tree bark and other earthly materials to create our own ink. It's ancient alchemy. We met her Icelandic and Shetland flock of sheep as well as wild kittens gathered in the barn. The process of making natural inks is incredibly ancient. Utterly divine. Entirely fascinating.
I adored learning the Ecosystems of our natural world and how they can be held with hands and heart to make tinctures, essential oils, sage sticks, medieval inks, chalk paints, gypsy pegs, homes, healing remedies, otherworldly pathways. Feeling incredibly grateful for infinite curiosity of the natural world and gentle and consistently adding such galactic and grounding knowings for all of my heart achingly authentic sowings.
Making quills from feathers of the Barn owl and the buzzard who swoop past our field and live on the land, that I wear in my hair each day created such a deep rooted feeling for me to get back to Cartography. That night we found ourselves tucked away in a timeless tiny pub and I just wanted to map out my world with ink and Map making paper. Thank you for your teachings @thewovenbriar It was a wildly nourishing day with you. πŸͺΆπŸŒΉπŸ•―🏹

I've just come back from a two-day spinning course with Bec at her gorgeous studio. I learned way, way more than I even hoped, with lots of time for practice, lots of relaxed conversation, and new sheep friends. Thank you!

I recently attended a learn to spin workshop with Bec & absolutely loved it, myself & 2 friends attended together. It was such a fun & informative day. I love Bec's relaxed teaching style & the whole feel of her workshop. Seeing the sheep in our lunch break was an extra bonus. I'm loving getting to grips with spinning, & very grateful to be expanding my skills with fibre. Highly recommend The Woven Briar both for teaching & for fibre/yarn resources. I LOVE my subscription box & Band Weaving kit. πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

This course was great. 2 days of relaxed learning in a comfy workshop has built up my confidence to try spinning unsupervised. I cannot praise this course enough, for its knowledge, support and great company. It was really good to be able to walk away from the course with a skein of yarn that I had spun myself. Thank you so much Bec.

Bec's 2-day spinning wheel workshop was amazing. I learnt so much about spinning, wool, and sheep! It was a joy to meet Bec, her flock and Berry the beautiful farm dog. I can't recommend it enough.

Before I knew it, I had woven a whole belt / strap / tie / cord / thingy!
Bec seems to have wool for every eventuality in her studio, and the best thing is that the beautiful sheep it comes from are right there. She seems to make it all make sense. Amazing place.
