I discovered this wonderful shop when I looked into learning to sew. I quickly booked on a beginner’s dressmaking course with Jan Wright and am absolutely thrilled I did. I have had so much fun and learnt a huge amount already. The course has been delivered in a friendly and informal manner. Jan’s knowledge and experience is totally evident!
Pretty much everything you need for the course can be purchased on site or even hired, plus plenty more to keep the shopaholic happy!
The store is an absolute treasure trove - jam packed with luscious fabrics and a whole wealth of tools, finishings and accessories. The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful, always ready to lend a friendly ear or advise on the correct purchases. It has been a joy to awaken a love for sewing I didn’t know I had and very refreshing to be a student once more, so much so, that I’ve already enlisted on a further course. 🤩 A*

My first visit to look for wool for a new crochet project. A bit out of the way but if you are a sewer, knitter or crocheter this place is amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a crochet session being held and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Everything was reasonably priced

Amazing range of glorious fabrics which make you want to sew, even if you can’t,
Staff are always extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Lovely range
of wools for crocheting and knitting. Great variety of courses and workshops. Fantastic shop with a comfortable sofa for patient partners.

My sister and I attended our first workshop at Sew and Sos yesterday and it was absolutely brilliant. First class facilities, knowledgeable and generous tutor (Carolyn James) and then there’s the shop of course! Thank you Beryl and Carolyn!
