Popped in for a tea and sconeeees, cheese scone special was amazing it came hot with Yorkshire cheese slices and a homemade chutney awesome. The fruit scone was hot and loaded with about 4 different fruits jam Devon Cream and butter again awesome. Staff very🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 busy but welcoming, friendly, helpful, and polite.

Greeted by really pleasant staff. We arrived quite late on in the day on Saturday and there was limited choice of breads as it is so popular. I had a panini, my daughter had the scone with jam and cream... absolutely beautiful and one of the best paninis I've had in years. Really crispy light ciabatta with mozzarella and fresh tomato pesto and sun dried tomato's. What a treat to find this on the doorstep!

Visited coffee shop today, for the first time, having previously bought Weardale White loaves and noticed that the served food upstairs.
I had a bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce “panini” and my wife had a 3 cheese and caramelised onion “panini”, followed by a lemon tart.
The “paninis”, made with their own bread, were absolutely delicious, infact, the best we have had and at our age we have had quite a few.
The lemon tart spectacular, very zingy with lemon and in a buttery pastry case.
And the lattes just topped the meal off!
Staff were great also and will be going back.

Had a lovely coffee and bakery snack here. The seeded sourdough bread cheese toast was wonderful and chutney amazing! Wish they sold that chutney! The Mezza plate was fresh and a delightful mix of flavors with loads of fresh breads.

Well I have passed Rise many times when visiting Barnard Castle and never popped in. I did on Saturday, to buy a wholemeal sourdough loaf. My word it is gorgeous. Wished I lived nearer. When I'm in BC again I will pop in for food and drink next time. The bakery products looked lovely. No wonder it's popular.

I enjoy baking wild yeast bread, and unlike so many 'sourdough'(sic) selling shops, Rise is the real thing! Excellent and generous breads and cakes served by extremely accommodating staff. The owners really are superb bakers, allowing the proper 3 days' preparation and fermentation time before baking. Very highly recommended

An absolutely fantastic cafe. We popped in for some sandwiches and some cakes. We ordered two roast chicken sandwiches with mayo. The sandwiches were enormous filled to the brim with freshly cooked chicken, salad and a perfect amount of cranberry. Everything tasted so fresh and the bread (ciabatta) melted in the mouth. I honestly don’t think we’ve had a better sandwich anywhere. We didn’t really have space for it but ate the delicious blackberry crumble pudding afterwards. It was first class.
The very friendly staff even brought some chicken skin outside to our very excited and happy cocker spaniel. Dogs are also welcome inside. As visitors to Barnard Castle we will definitely be back again.

It was our first visit to the area and this great bakery and cafe. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food and drinks were also amazing. We will be calling in again on our next visit.
