I have really enjoyed my lessons with Alison and I have learnt so much!
I aspire to be a wardrobe assistant for costume and TV so I wanted to have some sewing lesson to add more skills to my CV. After looking at a few different teaches locally, I am so glad that I chose Love and Stitches Studio!

To ensure that I got the most out of my lessons with her, Alison created a 10 hour lesson plan where we covered a whole range of different skills and methods that would help me in the industry!
My knowledge prior to my lessons wasn’t that great but Alison has taught me so much I feel 100% more confident in myself. During our lesson plan we covered all things from machine sewing, different fabric properties, hand sewing, alternations and so much more! They way Alison articulates things really helped me understand; it wasn’t just the case of her showing me how to do something and I copy, she really helped me understand why we were doing what we were doing.

To help me after our lessons had finished she also sent me a list of books, all the tools we used to add to my kit and fabric/pattern websites! I couldn’t have asked for any thing more.

You can really tell that Alison’s work is her passion! I was so happy to soak up as much of her knowledge as possible! I will be recommending her to everyone I know.

Alison made us feel relaxed and comfortable and we learned so much in those two hours. Taking it at our pace and explaining each step, so we clearly understood how to measure our selves and make the necessary adjustment to our patterns. I've had a fabulous sewing lesson with Alison Greer this week to help build my confidence with my overlocker. I love the way the overlocker makes everything so neat and finished, but I had been having a few issues with it and needed a bit of one to one hand holding and support. It was genius to thread it up with different colour threads so I could see what each one does and make all the adjustments to the tensions and stitch length / width to get it working just right. Lots of practice with woven and stretchy fabric - which I did find a bit scary, especially after the machine chewed up the last lot I did - now I know why! and what to do about it, which is even better. I'm raring to get going on it again, and the lesson was so helpful. Alison has so much knowledge and handy hints to share, and is a lovely teacher. I can't recommend her lessons highly enough. 🙏

Alison has a wealth of knowledge which she shares as she guides you through the techniques you need to master. I have been sewing for many years but needed help with fitting garments. I now feel much more confident with altering patterns and using the top down centre out method to get trousers to fit.

At a loss with my new overlocker, I booked a session with Alison to go over how the overlocker/serger could work for me. It was the best money and time spent. Alison was friendly, knowledgeable and very patient. I came home with notes, photos I had taken and fabric swatches showing the stitches and how to remedy tension problems. On the back of this I booked other sewing sessions.Alison is a star and I can highly recommend the services she provides.

I'm a beginner to dressmaking and had little knowledge before starting these sewing sessions. From deciding which size of the pattern to use, to finishing my first wearable top, Alison's help and knowledge was invaluable. I am now close to finishing another top at home and have dress pieces cut out ready to sew together. I'm hoping to continue lessons after Easter to expand my knowledge and work with different fabrics. Excellent tuition in every aspect of garment making, from initial idea, pattern making, cutting, assembly to completion, we made a festival hoodie from an old army blanket, which turned out great.
