As a trans person I've wanted lovely feminine hair for decades, with bold colours, but my hair loss has always proved a problem.

I had a failed hair system a year ago (not from Lacy Locks) in which the top of my head was shaved, and a plastic skin with human hair glued to my scalp. It was pretty, but very itchy and had to give up on it in the end.

Thought I would instead try a more breathable integrated mesh hair system. Found Lacy Locks online, and emailled what I wanted. A striking pink bob with blue undercolour. They were super helpful, and I went in for a free consultation which took place in a private part of the salon.

Given the bright fashion colours I wanted, we'd need to dye light blonde hair pieces which I was fine with. They were happy to obtain my preferred manic panic hair dyes and colour ahead of fitting.

They day of my new hair arrived and took 2.5 hours or so. But the time flew by because the stylists and female clients were all lovely and supportive. I was prepared for disapproving looks or feeling unwelcome by some, but it was completely the opposite. A wonderful experience from beginning to end.

A week later I did notice a small issue, but they were happy for me to come in again asap to resolve.

As it had been a week, I also thought I'd ask for my bob to be smoothed, curled under again while I was there. As I am not born female, I don't have decades of hair styling experience, and they were more than happy to give tips and even let me video my new bob being styled so I can practice at home. I tried to pay for them styling it again but they wouldn't hear of it.

All in all whatever your gender or identity, if you have hair loss or want extensions etc, I would heartily recommend them.

I don't like to leave reviews that are 100% positive if possible, as a balanced review is more believable in my experience. But the only thing I don't like is that it's a 50 mile round trip to visit the salon for me - which is hardly their fault and well worth the travel.

Lovely kind female stylists and has made me so happy having lovely pretty hair which feels nice to the touch. We are already discussing possible future styles and vibrant colours and they are just excited about it as me 🙂 x

I absolutely love this place. Delighted with my hair!! I have 22 inch nano rings fitted by Ambarin and they look amazing. The atmosphere in Lacy Locks is so warm and welcoming and I feel like I'm going out to meet friends every time I have an appointment. Could not love this Salon anymore if I tried, Ambarin is the best hair extension specialist on the planet! She’s also the loveliest kindest and most humble person you could ever meet, Devon is a little superstar, the curl queen who can make a blow dry last for 5 days minimum! Emma is the ultimate keratin blow dry expert to fix any frizz issues and reduce drying time massively and Ellie is great with colour and always has a smile, Lacy Locks has an absolute dream team I don’t think there is a better salon you could find anywhere!

5 years ago I lost my hair due to illness’s and having my baby, 5 years on it had only grew a couple of inches. I used to have very long hair and have always hated the way I looked I didn’t feel me! However that all changed today! Thank you, thank you, thank you again and again!
I had a full mesh integration and 20” of hair fitted and I’m ME AGAIN. I am beyond happy, I haven’t felt this good about myself in a very long time.
