I attended a course at Hometown last weekend and I cannot speak highly enough of my experience. The lady running the course was simply fabulous, and the shop owner was always on hand to help and advise too. They are very knowledgeable ladies who delight in helping and advising. I am an absolute beginner but ended the day being able to use my machine, and even created a cushion! The other people on the course were lovely, and we all had a laugh together, and supported each other too. Hometown has such a beautiful selection of materials; I could spend hours browsing.

Lovely shop, beautiful fabrics, have visited many times. However today’s visit marred by attitude of assistant. She was very knowledgable but talked to me like I was a child (I am in my 60s!) and have been sewing a long time. I also made to feel that I was getting in the way because she was busy. When I mentioned I had tried to email my query she said she hasn’t time to answer emails. I suggest you remove the email from your contact us page in that case !! Despite this I did get what I needed.

This shop is great! The ladies that work here are so friendly and kind. My daughter and I weren't spending much, just buying a few buttons but they treated us very generously, offering help and advice. Would recommend wholeheartedly!

A beautiful shop marred by the most unfriendly and miserable person behind the counter. She sucked the joy out of what could have been a fabulous experience. Having listened to the way she spoke to a few customers we decided to take our custom elsewhere. What a shame.

I visited this shop 12.12.21. They discriminate and embarrass people with disabilities. The lady in the shop challenged me about wearing a mask. I explained I have a disability. And don’t wear one. Then she continued to embarrass me in front of a busy shop. Her attitude was so disgusting she then got 2 other customers involved to verbally attack me. I have never been treated so deplorably in my 60 years of life. The government web site states. ‘A person with a disability does not have to show proof and persons should play their part and act sensitively towards people who need support” It can also be up to a £10.000 fine for discrimination!!!! Think this shop may need to research the exemption rules for themselves before attacking vulnerable customers !!!!!!
