Helpful and actually knowledgeable staff. Seem to retain talent—woman who assisted us had been with them on and off for decades, and said she enjoyed being able to come in when she could.

She was diligent in checking the fabric, and caught subtle imperfections that would have marred the project. Even shared some stories of her time at the old downtown location and showed us old photos by the register.

G Street Fabrics is well stocked with all tailoring supplies, fabrics, patterns, trims and also home decorations. I really enjoyed shopping there. It’s also very organized and neat. This is my no 1 stop for all my tailoring needs.

I own a sewing workroom in Canada. I dropped by to look for fabric while visiting my sister in Baltimore. I was so very impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the product. I plan to visit every-time I come to the states!

THIS IS THE STORE!! If you're looking for more variety than what's available at the chain fabric stores this is the place to go. Amazing selection, they have an entire side dedicated to upholstery fabric, the middle section is all notions, trims, buttons, and the other side is all clothing fabric. Honestly this is very similar to the stores you can find in the New York fashion district, but considerably less cramped. They also have very affordable fabric and very high quality fabric. I really liked how they were categorized by fabric type, so it's very easy to find natural fiber cloth. I will absolutely be making this my go-to place in the DMV for buying fabric.

On a recent trip to Sweden, we paid WAY too much $ for some fabric that we wanted to use to recover a bench seat cushion in our DC apartment. After doing a ton of research online, we decided to make the trek out to G Street Fabrics as we had read that they offer custom upholstery services. We are SO very glad that we did. Desiree was patient (we didn’t know what we were doing or wanted) knowledgeable and a real pro. She was just wonderful to work with. Today we received our order back and WOWZA, are we pleased. We will be back!!! Our only disappointment was that Desiree was not in the shop so we could thank her personally. We might just need to head back in and make some accent pillows with the extra fabric 😉

O M G the amount of fabric in here reminds me of Mood in NYC except it’s all on one floor. I’m a quilter so I was mainly looking at cottons & batiks. Not a large selection but enough of one for me to spend almost $100! Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Also plenty of parking.

Save your money...

Okay my review is not about the products at G Street Fabrics but one of the in-person class my daughter and I took. We signed up for the Intro to Sewing class and I just want to say if you are looking for an intro class that actually gives you hands on sewing, this is not the class for you. When we signed up, we were assuming the majority of the class would have you sit in front of a sewing machine and actually learn how to sew. Because how else would you learn if not by doing. The description of the class said it's for all beginners (no age specification) so I thought there would be at least some kids. Nope, the class is really more for adults.

The two hour class was the majority of the instructor talking and 5 minutes at the end for 15+ ppl to try the sewing machines with fabric scraps. Oh, there were only 4 sewing machines available. What?! The instructor talked for over 30 minutes at the beginning about herself and trying to upsell products from the store.

That was 2 hours of my time I would never get back and the class was $39 per person. For everything the instructor talked about, I could have saved $78 just by watching some YouTube videos. For the time that she was demonstrating on the sewing machine on how to thread the machine, you can't really see anything because the room was so small with the amount of ppl. It was ridiculous.

If I knew the class was just you sitting there listening to the instructor talk, I would have never signed up for the class.
