The selection of fabrics in store is vast and all the fabric is laid out well so you can see what’s on offer.

But most importantly the staff are fantastic! Nothing too much trouble. They let you browse peacefully but offer help just at the right time. Really knowledgeable too! If there is something you can’t find they will happily help or recommend an alternative.

Also really pleased to see they don’t try and sell damaged fabrics or push you to buy the more expensive option. They understand the project you are working on and advise accordingly.

Will be back for all my fabric needs!

The Fancy Silk Store is a treasure trove for fabric lovers! With two stories and a massive selection of silks, lace, and other materials, it has everything you need for your sewing projects. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend for anyone in search of high-quality fabrics!

Fancy Silk Store has been trading for decades and sells an immense amount of fabric over 3 floors.

I was shopping for a luxurious, plush fabric for a re-upholstery project. I found the owner very helpful as he directed me to the 2nd floor. There are a limited number of assistants but they are available if you call them from the phone on each floor. Luckily, I was there during a quiet time.

Many of the rolls are heavy to manoeuvre so you will need help. If you are looking for a particular fabric then do ask where you might find it!

There is a lift available to the 1st and 2nd floors. I would not say that the store is wheelchair friendly as there is little space between the aisles.

I bought Fibre Naturelle (Panther Silver Grey) crushed velvet/chenille at £27 per metre (retails around £35 per metre).

If I had gone into the shop intending to steal or damage something I could have understood why a member of staff chose to follow me around the first and second floors . No need for this rudeness which felt like inverted racism making me feel incredibly unwelcome . Went to Barry’s round the corner and the Rag Market and got excellent customer service and good prices from both.

They have almost absolutely everything. The staff are helpful and friendly. And the price range is reasonable to expensive. Their selection of fabric is extensive. Sometimes get really beautiful bespoke fabric which is always a nice surprise but heartbreaking when it's no longer in stock.
