Started off great but ultimately did not have a good experience and it ended up adding a lot of stress. I had an expensive birthday dress with detailed diamanté & beading around the neckline and did not want to risk taking it just anywhere so I went here.

The location is good, but note it is in a shared working space with no private changing room. Dividers are used while you change but realistically anyone can see over these.

First meeting / conversation was great, I was given a quote and paid. I had a 2 week deadline until my birthday which I was told would be no problem.

On my first try on the dress had been taken in too much and was tight, no issue and it was taken out.

When I was told the dress was ready and I came to collect it I realised the beading & diamanté had been sewed on upside down. So this had to be undone and redone - mistakes happen but this was very amateur, and she should asked for a picture if she didn’t remember or just to confirm.

I was sent update pictures of the beading being redone and honestly was horrified and panicked because it looked a mess and cheap. Visible, messy, bright stitching across the neckline that was not there when I dropped the dress off. This was now 2 days before my birthday.

After some back and forth she guaranteed me the stitching would be sorted and not visible, and asked me to confirm I was happy with the colour thread that was being used as she could use a clear one. I told her I was not happy with that colour.

The next day I received more update pictures, the stitching was much better and tidied up, but I noticed she had continued with the colour thread I said I didn’t want. I was told she missed my message saying this, I think she honestly just couldn’t be bothered at this point with all the issues that had occurred.

This was now the day before my birthday (and I needed to collect the dress that same day). And was told there was nothing else she could do at that point, either finish the dress with the pink stitching or leave it as is (undone and the day I need it, with no other realistic options).

I went to the studio to look at the dress and stitching in person, I felt she was rude and defensive. Again reiterating the options were her to finish the dress as she was, or leave it half done. Not really leaving me an option as it would be near impossible to find someone to finish it that same day also given that I’d paid her in full.

She even said she hadn’t charged me the correct amount given the complexity - not sure why this was relevant / my fault / or any justification for the subpar work and customer service. She set her price and I paid.

I had no choice but to have her finish the dress, not 100% to my satisfaction. When she text me to collect the dress she said she had to go so she would hand it over to me at the door - I feel she just didn’t want me back in the studio and felt that was rude. She handed me the dress at the door, I had to unzip and check the beading literally standing outside because I’m not sure why she’d think I’d trust and take it without checking given the experienced I’d had so far.

Overall, this was not a good experience for me and I will not be coming back. Additionally, what she charged was already on the pricier side for taking in a dress at the sides so I wonder how expensive it would have been for the “correct” price! Do not recommend for any “complex” alterations.

Claire did a tricky alteration I requested to make my wedding dress sleeves different (as well as shortening and adding a bustle). I cannot recommend her more, not only did she provide me more fittings than I would've gotten anywhere else, she also did a magnificent job, making it better than I could have imagined, and at a much more ethical price. She listened so attentively to my ideas and executed them to perfection, I can't recommend her more and am so grateful for her work. 10/10 ❤️

I took a bridesmaid’s dress to Claire for significant alterations all over (taking it down 2 dress sizes) - Claire turned the dress into something even more beautiful than it started. Fantastic shape and line, and perfect finish. The fit was comfortable but precise to my shape - I’ve never had a better fitting dress.
