Isn’t much to look at when you walk in, I’m assuming it’s either a rented building, or there are planning restrictions… but there is a surprisingly big menu, and specials and lots of cakes!

I’m originally from Derbyshire and love a good oatcake, but since moving south and getting a coeliac diagnosis I’ve not seen, let alone tasted an oatcake in ages! But there it was, a GF oatcake with cheese, ham and mushrooms! Heaven! Very yummy! I finished this up with a GF Victoria sponge and latte and I was a very happy bunny! This was mid-feb 2025! We were served by Nicky (I think?) and were quite a big table!! They very quickly took our order, including 2 shy kids, and brought it all out in pretty much one table visit!! We were pressured to leave once finished, despite a steady flow of customers!! 100% would go back!

Great cafe with lovely Gluten free options. Not just gf options .....lovely ones! Much appreciated! And the sewing shop is fascinating. Fabrics, wools, notions, some made up garments . It's just the place for sewing stuff and unusual gifts .What's not to love?

I have been here a few times as it is close to the car park I use when visiting Ashbourne.
It is a very traditional tea room; flowery table cloths, china cup and saucers, flowers on the table. The menus are knitting patterns. A couple of times I have had the high tea which is great value for money consisting of a sandwich with salad and crisps and a scone with jam and cream and a huge pot of good tea. Perfect! They also do breakfast, afternoon tea, sandwiches etc. Definitely worth searching out for those visitors who may come into Ashbourne from the other direction and not see it. It is very close to the centre and there is a free car park nearby. They also have a sewing shop attached.
Highly recommended.

Went with a friend for birthday treat. Beautiful tea rooms with lovely friendly staff. Great selection of drinks, sandwiches and cakes for a very reasonable price. Plenty of space between tables and could take our time with extra cups of tea. Added bonus for my friend was the sewing and materials on sale in the shop. Incredibly clean toilets available. Free parking two minutes walk from tea room. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Wanted to try this as I’m a big fan of independent tearooms. Was told it wasn’t that great but I finished early from my exam as I’m studying near by and pop in to make my own choice.
Had to wait at the door even tho every table was vacant but had signs saying reservations. Greeted Nicely by a lady who boxed me on to a one chair 2 table:( was a little off putting. (Please sit any where would have been nice ). There were signs everwhere saying please do not … little off putting. I placed my order and waiting. A couple were dining and one of them go up to pay and was waited a long time in my eyes but customer wasn’t bothered happy humming to the classic music being played. They take card over £5. Scones was very nice. Best one I had eaten in a while !
My experience was not very relaxing and I felt the tearoom was more for the owner than to run a business, so many possibilities to be held. One of the many unwelcoming signs

A second visit to this delightful tearoom for myself and friend and we were not disappointed. The ladies in the tearoom are so lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The afternoon tea was as delicious as we remembered it from our first visit last Sept. All freshly made a lovely variety of tasty finger sandwiches, and more than we could manage! Delicious homemade scones with jam and cream as well as lemon drizzle cake, chocolate sponge cake and flapjack!! Take away for any left overs not a problem either makes for a happy hubby who was in work!! As much fresh tea and coffee as we could drink. Such excellent value for money. Have not had a nicer afternoon tea for the money. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I recently celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary and our three children gave us a surprise “ high tea “ at Betty’s ( at Ashbourne) The “ high tea “ consisted of sandwiches, of your choosing, and a scone with cream and jam. Everything was perfect including the ladies who waited on you, nothing was too much trouble and we felt “ right at home “ and felt that we had made some good friends there. Please visit and experience “ a real delight” for yourselves.
